Notable Rajputs from our bradari that I know of are Late Mr Lakshman Singh XCN Indian Punjab State Electricity Board. Late Mr Mayah Singh of village Paldi who migrated to Vancouver,Canada and settled there. He started a college at Paldi and now in Canada there is name sake Paldi town in BC. Mr Amar Singh of village Jalera who was minister in Partap Singh Kairon government. Mr Asa Singh private secretary to Partap Singh Kairon. My relative Late Mr Mngal Singh of village Paldi who was head master of village Paldi school. Late Mr Kahmira Singh of village Karnana. Mr Surinder Singh Parihar who married in to Maiyah Singh family in BC and was an economist in Ottawa. My brother Mr Tek C Chauhan IAS Ex Director of Industries Tamil Nadu government. Pre partition information which I have in my possession is Late Sheikh Laaik Ali of Shekupura and a colleague of my late father who went on to become Advocate General of Pakistan in Lahore. I will in due course dig out more information about our rajputs especially muslim rajput lambardars of village Mehtiana |

We are rajputs and respect other rajputs atleast, should never use derogatory words. Past was a time ,no need to discuss, why and how others converted, we should respect all relegions. we all are Rajputs. good luck, jai deva |

| Muhammad Ahsan Raja 768. entry 09.07.2010, 06:57 | My ancestor Rai Jalal Khan was general in Akbars army .Manj Rajputs of talwandi rai kot Ludhiana fought against MughL ARMY.Rai Kalha sheltered Guru Gobind sigh jee AND his sons,Guru jee gave his slippers and Ganga sagar lota,to Rai sahib.This lota is with brother Rai Aziz ullah khan.The haveli where Guru Sahib stayed in Rai kot has prakash of Guru Granth Sahib at Rai kot,Ludhiana.In district Rawalpindi around river soan,there are Manj Rajputs Alpials descendents of Rai jalal Khan in villages onver thousands in number,as Rai Jalal khan refused to make peace with Akbar,and went to Uch shareef.He saw Hazrat Makhdoom Jahanian Gasht GREAT SAINT,at whose invitatation Rai Tulsi embraced Islam in 1323 AD in dream .Rai sahib was asked to come to this part and spread Islam.M y village Adhwal produced Giani Gurmukh singh Musafir,Mohan singh Brar and Jaswant SINGH Raz,at partition my ancestors provided passage to all Hindus AND Sikhs and shelterd them,in true Rajput TRADITION.Rai jalal Khan had his brother Rai Kamal khan and others who migrated to Pakistan from Areas around Rai kot etc called Manjki,being land of Manj Rajputs. |
| kanwar g r chauhan 767. entry 08.07.2010, 06:04 | Further to my earlier message. I am a keen researcher of our rajpoot history and as such would like to point out the following. 1. Our rajpoot brothers from Bikanair and Rajasthan have not excommunicated us rajpoots from Punjab officially. No edict to this effect exists. What happened was the Rajasthan rajpoots who were traditionally loyal to the Mugal throne did not easily accept the leadership of Sri Guru Govind Singh Ji when Guru Sahib rose in rebellion against the cras injustice. Many rajpoots who fought in World War 1 were granted 'Murabaas' (land grants) in Bikanair as well in Punjab Districts as reward for their war services to the British. My maternal grand father's family is one example. 2. Chauhan rajpoots from my village Sarhal Mundi were cordially invited by ruler of Boondi state, given lands but returned back to Punjab because of unsuitability of land for agriculture. 3. Animosity towards our muslim rajpoot brethern never existed to my knowledge in Punjab rajpoot villages. On the contrary there is an anecdote from history that Shakti Singh who was a mansabdar of emperor Akbar cut down mugal soldiers who were persuing his brother Maharana Partap. Emperor Akbar chided Shakti Singh but did not dismiss or take any action against him. |

My mom's family is from Paldi district Hoshiarpur. I have studided the history of our people very closely and am starting a Phd in history so I find resources such as this a another great tool for information and for re uniting the greatest people on Earth. People who lived such principles and honor that they have been admired around the world. My best wishes to all of you and Kuljit paaji thanks for all the effort that you have put into this. |
